# Page templates

> The page templates a route composes, and the width each allows.

A route composes one template; it does not invent a layout. The content width depends on the job.

| Page job                   | Width                                 |
| -------------------------- | ------------------------------------- |
| Forms and settings         | stop at `form-max` (640 px)           |
| Dashboards                 | up to `dashboard-max` (1440 px)       |
| Data pages (tables, lists) | fluid                                 |
| Long text                  | `reading-max`, a 68 character measure |

Page padding is 16 px below 640 px and 24 px above; 24 px above the first block; 32 px between sections. A page header sits 12 px above its toolbar. The values are the `ui.layout.*` tokens on the [shell](https://brand.okrado.com/layout/shell/) page.

Every page designs these states: empty, loading, error, long text and right to left.
